The AAAHC accreditation program was developed specifically for ambulatory health care organizations. In order to prepare for a survey, all organizations must obtain a copy of the AAAHC Handbook for Ambulatory Health Care, which is the comprehensive manual of AAAHC standards. The organization must submit an Application for Survey.

The Accreditation Association has developed special programs for specific types of ambulatory care organizations, including office-based surgery practices and managed care organizations. Additional information about these programs can be found using the links on the right.

NOTE: An organization will be surveyed according to the 2009 standards if (1) the Application for Survey is received at the AAAHC office on or before February 28, 2010, and (2) the organization’s survey begins on or before June 30, 2010. An organization will be surveyed according to the 2010 standards if (1) the Application for Survey is received at the AAAHC office on or after March 1, 2010, and/or (2) the organization’s survey begins on or after July 1, 2010.
