The AAAHC Institute for Quality Improvement is pleased to announce the 2010 winners and honorary mentions for the Bernard A. Kershner Innovations in Quality Improvement Award.
In the Primary Care category, the winner is the Springfield Clinic, Springfield, Illinois, for their quality improvement activity on “Quality Initiative for Improvement: Childhood and Adolescent Immunizations, Cancer Screenings, Diabetes Care, Controlling High Blood Pressure and Patient Satisfaction.”
Virginia Commonwealth University Student Health Services, Richmond, Virginia, has received an honorable mention for their quality improvement activity on “Improving the Influenza Vaccination Rate in Asthma Patients."
In the Surgical/ Procedural Care category, the winner is the New Jersey Surgery Center, L.L.C. Mercerville, New Jersey, for their quality improvement activity on “Anti-Hypertensive Pre-Op Compliance Surgical Patients."
SCA Fort Worth Endoscopy Center, Fort Worth, Texas, has received an honorable mention for their quality improvement activity on “Pathology Collection Variance Prevention.”
AAAHC accredited organizations are eligible to apply for this award, which is given annually. An expert panel reviews applications against criteria derived from the AAAHC’s “10 elements” of quality improvement. Winners receive their awards and make presentations on their projects at the AAAHC Institute’s annual National Educational Forum. Additionally, the AAAHC Institute for Quality Improvement Innovations in Quality Improvement Compendium is updated annually to include the latest award winning projects.
