CMS ASC Interpretive Guidelines
now available!

The Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) has revised its State Operations Manual (SOM) Appendix L – Guidance for Surveyors: Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC). Part I provides the Survey Protocols – CMS’ instruction on how to conduct Medicare surveys of ASCs. Part II provides the Interpretive Guidelines for the Conditions for Coverage – CMS’ interpretation of the Medicare requirements for ASCs. While AAAHC is currently in the process of reviewing the SOM, it is important that we notify ASCs where this information can be obtained.
