AAAHC 2011 Handbooks Now Available:

Separate Handbook for Medicare Deemed Status Skokie, Ill. - 12/1/2011

The 2011 Accreditation handbooks are now available from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), including:

  • The 2011 Accreditation Handbook for Ambulatory Health Care. Ambulatory care organizations seeking AAAHC accreditation will benefit from having this Handbook close at hand before, after and during an accreditation survey.
  • The 2011 Accreditation Handbook for Ambulatory Surgery Centers Seeking Medicare Deemed Status is essential for ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) seeking AAAHC accreditation in addition to Medicare Deemed Status.

Changes to the 2010 standards can be viewed on the AAAHC website.

Both handbooks incorporate the new, user-friendly format introduced in 2010, including many valuable resources such as references, a comprehensive glossary, interactive forms and worksheets for self-audit, a step-by-step guide to writing a QI study, and more tools to aid in achieving accreditation. The books are three-hole punched so they can be put into a binder. Organizations will be able to share/remove pages and/or add in pages of notes or other materials.

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), founded in 1979, is the leader in ambulatory health care accreditation with nearly 5,000 organizations accredited nationwide. The AAAHC accredits a variety of ambulatory health care organizations, including ambulatory surgery centers, office-based surgery centers, college student health centers, managed care organizations, military health care clinics, large medical and dental practices and medical homes. In 2009, the Accreditation Association launched an international accreditation program in Costa Rica and will expand accreditation to other countries in the future. The AAAHC serves as an advocate for the provision of high-quality health care through the development of nationally recognized standards and through its survey and accreditation programs. AAAHC accreditation is recognized as a symbol of quality by third-party payers, medical organizations, liability insurance companies, state and federal agencies and the public.
