Annual Quality Roadmap Published

The AAAHC Quality Roadmap serves as a tool for organizations seeking insights on quality improvement. Members of the health care community across disciplines and specialties use this resource to establish benchmarks. The Quality Roadmap identifies high compliance and high deficiency Standards, an important component toward pursuing ongoing quality improvement through the 1,095 days of the three-year accreditation term.

We encourage our accredited organizations to use the annual report to identify themes that deserve special attention as they pursue ongoing quality improvement throughout the accreditation term. While our 2022 report indicates that most facilities surveyed comply with the majority of Standards, it also includes several areas that warrant improvement. Using data from actual surveys affords health care professionals the opportunity to learn from each other and take corrective action, as necessary.

Earlier this month, Julie Lynch, MS, BSN, RN, director, Institute for Quality Improvement, joined Jay Kumar, PSQH Editor-in-Chief Jay Kumar for PSQH: The Podcast, a bi-weekly podcast covering the hottest topics in patient safety and quality. Their discussion highlighted the 2022 AAAHC QualityRoadmap, as well as other AAAHC insights.

  • Background of AAAHC accreditation and certification programs, and the 1095 Strong, quality every day philosophy
  • Differences between ambulatory health care and acute care facilities
  • Post pandemic capacity

  • Main findings of the 2022 AAAHC Quality Roadmap
  • Challenge areas for organizations
  • How the report can be used to improve care

“Our annual Quality Roadmap is designed to serve as a tool for self-assessment where each organization can measure their performance to improve the quality of care delivered to patients,” said Ms. Lynch. “This annual analysis provides one of many tools for health care facilities and their staff to help them elevate the level of quality within their organization.”
